Choose the folder
Koma works inside a folder. That folder is where it reads and where it is allowed to change things.
Each conversation has a working folder. That is the project koma reads and changes.

The folder you were in when you typed koma is the starting folder.
Type /cd and a path to move this conversation to another folder.
Type /adddir and a path to let koma see a second folder as well. Use that when the brief is in one folder and the assets are in another.
You can also change Workdir and Allowed dirs in /settings.
